big tnx for these amazing thoughts. From the technical point of view:

Everything is possible, it's just a question of money, time and bandwith.

the simplest solution might be some cheap cameras (like the ones used for
cuseeme), mounted on locations around the stage, covering a fixed field
of view. images are taken at regular intervals (i.e every 15 seconds)
and transfered to the WWW server(s). selecting the Internet Audiences
point of view is a matter of the WWW design.

At the moment, I'm not sure if there are lightweight digital cameras with
wireless data transfer available (for odysseus' point of view) and how
much they are.

since bandwith tends to get cheaper, the update frequency and picture
quality might be accordingly increased. but we have to transfer sensor
and audio data over the same lines/bandwith, too, therefore it is necessary
to find a tradeoff between all these bandwith needs.
