from a technical point of view, there is no limitation to 8*8 1 meter squares,
I took this as granted after the first discussions with gernot.
removing the internet as transport media for sensor/position data and use
"pre-programmed" light cones might make things easier, but then, what are
the other stages for ?
there was the position that there are no differences (cultural, ...)
between the stages: there will be a lot of differences, considering broken
lines, major congestions, broken routers (I already can see the sweat on the
technicians foreheads :) ).
if this is not "different" enough: it would be possible to "reverse" some
movements, i.e. if actor on stage 1 moves from B1 to B8, the light cones
at stages 2-5 move from B8 to B1 or from G1 to G8 or ... (rotation of the
stage positions of 90 degrees etc.)
if dramaturgy introduces "cultural differences" at each stage, these
differences would have to be "visualized" at the other stages, because:
what are differences good for if you can't recognize them ? This means
that these differences have to be transferred over the net, and that's my
main concern, that's what I like to reduce: transfer as little as possible
because bandwith is (most likely) a scarce good.

asked. "Because the darkness is where danger comes from," Peter said, "and
from the fire comes only illusion". (from "The Diamond Age")
