what i was thinking about was a database of say a hundred sounds, or better
128 (nice computer maths... did the guy who invented this computer thing
have 16 fingers? ;> ) sounds, and a function or algorythm to transform a
char string to a number from 0 to 127. this function/algorythm should also
give some extra info, ie. in which RL stage sound will be produced (more on
this later).

i like this list. i do.

on RL music:
i think each cyberchor sound should be triggered on only one RL stage, and
then this RL sound should be transferred to other stages and to the web.
this will give us different music on each stage, real or virtual.
i know this will also be a bandwidth headache, so a better idea may be to
transfer only the sound order to all RL stages, with a specification of on
which one should the sound sound 'real'. on the other stages, digital
distortion can be applied to simulate RealAudio sound (or maybe RealAudio
software can be used to accomplish this). this way we get the same result
with way less bandwidth usage (compare a sound stream to a three byte
message!*)
* first byte: stage; second & third: sound number.
