I just finished the "storyboard" and text. However, I need to put in the
times and check it over with a fresh mind tomorrow. Stilll, I wanted to
give you all some information on the performance that will become even
clearer when I send the Storyboard.
About an hour before the official start a videotape made by Georg will be
seen on the ten monitors in the Sky Cafe and the two monitors at the Cafe
Stein. This tape will explain oudeis and also the MOO. The information
will be taken from the web pages and the material provided by Juli. This
will not only educate the audience but it will free the performance to be
more dramatic and less didactic. It will also be shown on the WWW.
Then there will be a shockwave animation affectionately titled finnegan or
work-in-progress which will help to set the scene and build anticipation
with the audience. This will also be seen on the WWW.
Mischa, our MC, will then begin the introduction which has been rewritten
to tell our story as well as that of Odysseus. A few seconds later the
Parados will begin and so will the transition of the room from real to
virtual, light to dark. At the end of the introduction and Parados, the
room will be dark and there will be a moment of silence.
Then, a male voice (the voice of a story teller who will be heard but not
seen) will speak to provide the setting of each scene before the dialogue.
As each character (cone) is introduced in the course of the scene a lighted
Mischa will appear beside the character=B4s unilluminated cone. As Mischa
speaks her light will fade out and the cone will become illuminated, a
transition from the real to the virtual. Also, her voice will be
electronically changed to further enhance this change. This will only
occur once with each character with the exception of Penelope where it
will not occur at all. For the remainder of each scene but the last one
Mischa will be in darkness. In the last scene with Penelope, Mischa will
be in darkness until the last moments when she delivers the final words
before the Exodus and credits.
The windows will then open in a reverse transition from virtual to real,
though it may be dark outside by then which should also blur the transition
and make the change even more interesting.
Some additional stuff, as said in previous letters, there will be a monitor
for each cone which will show only the MOO dialogue of the character that
is speaking (in large letters). Only the monitor of the character that is
speaking will be active at any given time. In the Cafe Stein we will have
neon light cones which will also be manipulated in some fashion (still to
be decided).
That's all for now. Will try to send the storyboard tomorrow.
