This is a matter of opinion and I was trying to be as gracious as possible
after the performance because there is nothing to be gained by blaming
anyone. The fact is that we didn't know until the day before that we
could not have the MOO on the bottom third of the screen. This bit of
knowledge was discovered at the last moment even after weeks of meetings
and phone calls with Ars where we could have found out much sooner and
maybe come up with a solution. To my way of thinking the performance
needed this enhancement of the MOO. Yes, we did have the MOO on the four
monitors representing the characters but this was to be in addition to the
screen. When I came up with the idea of the four monitors representing the
characters it was for the sole purpose of showing our four characters in
dialog not as a replacement for the bottom third of the big screen. The
main problem I had with the big screen minus the MOO was that it was too
static. Also the ten monitors that we tried to substitute for the big
screen were hard to read and not at an optimum focal point.

We always planned on having some sort of web presence during the
performance. Georg's idea of using auto-loading of pages (just like his
piece on oudeis) would have been a simple one to implement in place of
shockwave and would have taken very little time. Unfortunately, for a
variety of reasons this time was not available.

This is what I meant by one of the technical imperfections....no one to
blame...just a fact.

Santiago, obviously you didn't understand what I was saying. In fact, I
was complementing Gernot on this, nothing more. I have no idea how this
was interpreted in your mind.

When I used the phrase "intellectual masturbation" it was meant exactly as
you said. I was tired of having nothing solid to show for our efforts and
Monika felt the same way. This is why Monika and I worked months to create
Among Immortals!!! And now, regardless of what happens in the future, we
have something tangible to show for our efforts.
