I am really sorry, that I left this meeting without a final conclusion.
Oudeis is definitly in a phase of heavy transition. I think what came out
yesterday, however, is that each of us has a reason to stay with oudeis
=> oudeis will continue.
I would like to ask people, who not participated yesterday to mail an
answer to the 2 following questions to the list:
Why are you in the oudeis group ?
What is your (expected ) compensation?
Jim and Twyla came late, so there was no chance to get an opinion from
you, pls let us know what you are think Santiago I guess you have been busy
again ? :( I would love to hear a comment (real briefly). Aaron? Christian?
a short excerpt of yesterdays answers.
GeorgL says, "I am here because (in no order): I am part of the project,
I get
paid for programming html and the status"
GeorgL says, "and because I am interested in the discussion"
GeorgL says, "and because I know many of you quite well and enjoy meeting
you.
Thats it"
Juli is hre beacuse there is great potential in all aspects of this
project....am mostly interested in integrating moo, but am also very
interested
in rl manifestation of whole thing, as a stage directore on physical stages
that is
Juli says, "my compensation is academic, in the way Gernot used the word, I
write and do athemoo for no money, because i am interested in gaining
knowledge
and addig to the world of theatre"
Juli says, "the amt of time i can put in will depend on what we decide
are the
parameters, but you can count on me not to disappear ;-)"
KarinM says, "for me its an adventure and i would like to win against the
w"waves".."
MonikaW [to KarinM]: are you getting paid for your work for oudeis (sorry for
being so direct) or what will your compensation be?
KarinM [to MonikaW]: as you know I'am an employee at kiski,
KarinM [to MonikaW]: as we wrote we can stay till the end of march in the
office and then it deopend if we get money or not..
KarinM [to MonikaW]: so after this date, I'am a"private" particoipate.
LeeG says, "I am here because I want to help expand the world of theatre and
because I think the goals outlined in Mon's mission statement pertaining to
real and virtual interation are worth pursuing..."
Juli nods at Lee, agrees totally
MonikaW [to LeeG]: coming back to your mission
MonikaW says, "can I say it is similar to juli"
MonikaW asks, "juli's and mine?"
LeeG [to MonikaW]: Yes, you could say that :-)
MonikaW says, "without compensation in terms of money we get compensation in
terms of reaching a goal - experimenting and testing a new form of theater"
MonikaW says, "ok so we only have to find out if our approaches differ
significantly, but else we have the same "status" here"
GernotL great, all your statemens, sorry for my english, but the reason
is not,
that <i hat big projects, I had this dream, and I?m here for to work with you
one a theaterproject in a new form, with our old theme who we are, and
where we
are going??
---------
we now have to figure out if our "reason to be here" can hold us togheter!
we also have to be hones with ourselves and with the group if reason +
compensation are helpful for the project or not!
in terms of compensation:
there is first of all the lack
of money. with the updated information including the withdrawl of kispro
this situation might change as well. Up until now there was a small
compensation for karin + gernot + georg, for me (until late spring), for
the expenses in linz (including lee, santiago's, aarons and christians)
-> so everybody has to decide for him/herself if the amount of work he or
she can offer goes together with the compensation (in other words, if
oudeis does not pay you, can you make time + energy available, can you
make commitments?)
---------
another issues were raised that very much questioned basis of oudeis:
- do we still use homer's odyseey as the "text"
- do we still work and experiment with lightcones
-> this develops easily into the question "Who are we?"
Please remember that we are in a transition stage. Even though that it
might seem that we start a new project from scratch, it is more that we
take what we have and move it over into a new (better, more efficient)
stage. we have a framework + a basis that only has to be reformulated.
We also have differences, and problems we need to raise and speak about.
In a diverse group of strong individuals (that's us :) ) creativity
unfolds in various directions. The challenge is to bring the branches
together :) and create the unique work of "oudeis"
(What I am saying here is: there HAS to be a reason why all of us have been
sticking together for such a long time :) )
