i'm re-reading 'the odyssey', thinking about 'oudeis'...

are we going to stick with the original structure? that is: 24 books, etc.

each book has its own structure that can be used for oudeis. this is a
summary of the first three:

-------

book I: Council of the Gods. Minerva exhorts Telemachus.

structure:
I. Intro. (2 paragraphs)
II. Council of the Gods. (5)
III. Minerva exhorts Telemachus. (14)
IV. Penelope asks Phemius not to sing. (4)
V. Telemachus speaks with the suitors. (7)
VI. Telemachus retires. night. (1)

characters:
0. Narrator: I. (he appears as a character: 'tell ME, o muse...')
1. Jove: II.
2. Minerva: II, III.
3. Telemachus: III, IV, V, VI.
4. Antinous: V.

III. Telemachus & Antinous. (6)
IV. Telemachus & Euryclea. (6)
V. Atenea prepares the trip. (3)
VI. Telemachus parts. (4)

characters:
1. Telemachus: I, II, III, IV, VI.
2. Aegyptius: I.
3. Antinous: I, III.
4. Halitherses: I.
5. Eurymachus: I.
6. Mentor: I.
7. Leiocritus: I.
8. Minerva: II, V, VI.
9. Euryclea: IV.

book III: Nestor.

structure:
I. Arrival. Minerva's words. (4)
II. Prayer and Dinner. (5)
III. Nestor speaks. (10)
IV. Minerva parts. (8)
V. Night. (1)
VI. Offer to Minerva. (6)
VII. Trip to Lacedaemon. (4)

characters:
1. Telemachus: I, III.
2. Minerva: I, II, III, IV.
3. Pisistratus: II.
4. Nestor: III, IV, VI, VII.

-------

i'm counting the paragraphs in my spanish edition. the paragraphs from a
couple of electronic english editions i found do not match this numbers, so
i guess that --if the number of paragraphs is to be used in oudeis'
structure-- it will be better to base everything in a good greek
original... does anybody know where to find one?

saludos,
