Thank you for coming back to find a basis.

_The Theme of our play__

This happend before once to this project. The theme "The Odyssey by Homer"
was found but there was no existing playscript. During the conceptual
discussions the project drifted into an performance in an hightech
envirmonment - this is now called (draft) environment on our pages, because
no question it was an genial concept but no theater any more.

Why we found the theme so good for this project I just can point to Lee's
wonderful description (At 21:46 06.11.96 -0800, L.H. Grant wrote). The
question now is only - which interpration can we stress exactly? And once
again - how important will the role of the technology be during the script
/ play?

Yes, Dan I have to admit that this is part of "no concept" which means in
this special point no playscript, scenes.

_Reflections on the current development_

The Discussion on our list has once again drifted away from pure context to
technological possibilities. There is no question about the creativity and
importance of this part, but perhaps kind of unlimited in the current status.

This is definitly true (also your doubts about this being a bizarre way)
but I consider about the quickness of the internet. Sometimes it is really
hard to get the "Moment". When the Performance finally will take place it
will also BE and SHOW a part of history (another argument for using the
odyssey :)
I belief, if we had no deadline we could go on and on with currently
bringing in new points. (correct me if you have other experiences)

You are right in doubting that the Audience will see the difference between
local control and remote control of the lights. (btw there are some
internet experiments in the near past that had pretty much the same
problem: i.e. a remote controlled toy car - steared by someone far away via
the internet - seen last year at the ars electronica in Linz; but that is
definitly no excuse, more a reason to make it better!)

One solution for this was what we called Environment before, and at the
moment call the Level of the Gods.

but I am sure _WE_ have the potential to carry it out.

I really love to look at the creativity which is coming up in this lists -
seems to be a group that is able to bring out much together. Of course we
had a reason for establishing an world wide collaboration but none of us
imagened it as great as this, I mean you all have so wonderful ideas and
points to straighten this project. So, thats perhaps part of why we had not
clearly defined this part before. But as I see it now, you are right in
emphasizing that this discussion itself is worth to be brought on stage.

So we should go on as Lee stressed as well, to explore the internets
theatrical potential - to find out the limits as mentioned above, but to go
beyond this limits as well.

_Ongoing?_

Could we together work out a concept? Dan?? Define the parts that are needed?
Kis productions definitly has to discuss this in our weekly meeting. At
this moment I can only speak for the work on the script. Dan, you have more
experiences in writing by Commitee btu as Gernot and I see it now, he and
me will have to prepare a script text (final scenes are scheduled for end
of this years) and post it to the list. Will this bring us some more base
for further discussion? But on the other hand this will STRESS the
centralistic point of this work even more.
And Dan, if I get you right - actually each stage, each city should write
its own scene?

We always thought this would be perfact to have a reason to play a certain
scene in a certain city but at the moment I do not know how to find the
collaborators everywhere.

hm, seems to me I am a bit helpless at these point and of how to organize
our collaboration but I am sure we will find a work plan soon (because we
have to!)

thank you for understanding that all of this is very new for me
and than you for your help,

Mon
