the presentations from homers contemporary (and himself) - so it would be
easier for the audience to understand and remember.
I think the situation here is similar. Some parts will be really hard to
understand, and I think we still have to cut some lovely scenes

well this depends on the one hand on the text - second might be that this
scene needs to reworked anyway (think we lost some creativity coming to the
end :)
I think, I will soon trying to get in touch with Norton & Co - the
publisher of Albert Cook's translation (I think I already found their
webpage at http://web.wwnorton.com/ ) tnx Lee for reminding me of this. We
might need their permission for this first draft.
I also hope that his translation really goes line by line (some comment
from Martin Mueller, who said, he will use the Lattimore translation for
the electronic text, made me wonder ...)
This will be essential when we try to work with several translations.
Should we go on working on the English version, till stages / scenes are
fixed? or should we start with some translations.
I have a german one here. transl. by Roland Hampe,
what else do we need? spanish, french, greek?
any idea _where_ which scene should take place?
I will try to get a second draft together till february. Maybe than we can
choose a scene for a kind of "pre- or test - performance" in february or
march (with an equipment as dan suggested in his mail on Mon, 23 Dec 1996
