Unfortunately I have a meeting at work so will be unable to attend the
Oudeis meeting. A lot of meetings these days!
My congratulations to Luiz Felippe Rosenburg for articulating the terms of
the first test of the Oudeis project. As this agreement gets worked out it
could serve as a model, or at least a starting point, for all the other
partners in this project. A few suggestions regarding the agreement:
1. PRIMARY CONTACT PERSON
Identify who the primary contact is on both sides. This will prevent any
situations where one person said one thing and someone else said something
completely different. All communications, decisions etc. will go through the
primary contact person.
2. PUBLICITY
Generally speaking all PRESS RELEASES should be reviewed by all the
collaborators before being sent out to the media. This way names are spelled
correctly and the story gets told to everyone's satisfaction.
Also all press clipping articles etc. should be shared and copies should be
given to all parties involved.
3. PRODUCTION CREDITS AND WAYS OF WORKING
Some of this appears to be already worked out but should be clarified:
Lee Grant must be contacted prior to any script changes. Lee Grant will be
credited as writer of the scenes. What may help you is to think about the
program for the performance. How would it read? Once you have this down
you'll be able to work more effectively. Specify production dates and times etc.

WHERE STUDIO Z STANDS
As I see it this is how we could fit into the picture. Our schedule is quite
full this Fall so participation at that point is impossible. Our season as I
may have mentioned before runs from September 97 thru -August 98. We have to
budget more or less a year in advance for any production and plan
accordingly. Given this structure here's what we can do:
1. FALL of 97 you will have your first test of the project. At this time
you'll have a much better idea of technical, production and artistic needs.
2. Around December 1997 or January 1998 I will need: a kind of artistic
summary for the project describing the vision and the objective of Oudeis,
a rough budget for Oudeis including personnel needs and equipments needs
and time needed to complete the project and include, if possible, any press
coverage from the demos. This is all needed before I can get my group to
commit and a University to sign on.
3. January 1997 I would present the entire package to my board and then
they'd decide whether it's something we'll do or not. Assuming the decision
is yes then we'd take all the information you gave us, add in our own stuff
and approach a University (probably Northwestern University). Then once we
found our collaborator we'd be on board.
4. Realistically we could be ready, at the earliest in the FALL of 1998.
Given all the work involved and the size of the project I would suggest that
you consider the same start date. Any way that's where we are.
