Jonny also reminds us of some unsolved problems in our concept or
project. (I would avoid speaking of A or ONE concept)
On one point of view we maybe were only "one of these project" at ars
electronica. That is being a project that needs effort to be understood and
asks the audience not to consume only.
Remember, this performance was included into a workshop.
In the cafe of course there were many possibilities to participate in AI.
One could be a preinformed audiencemember, maybe eagerly or clueless
(after the exhausting workshop :) ) waiting for an action. Or people
could simple continue their RL chats and enjoy from time to time what
they have been provided with by oudeis team (as many people did, f.e. the
2 japanese guys how where trying to shoot pictures before the curtain
closed - i really liked their way of participating in AI)
No pressure on oudeis to be a sophisticated, pure artistic product :)
I have to admit it hurts me to be put into a line with unsuccessfull
projects from Ars Electronica. And it maybe hurts me becuase I know that
you are right in some way.
You are right if ars electronica is still a 5 days event for an Elite where
people are mainly presenting themselves and their little toys.
Maybe we used it (without knowing before) as what it is heading for: a
station for works in progress.
I also feel I should defend myself of not looking on other projects
during this years festival. Of course our all exhaustment is no excuse.
Tnx for describing some of them.
Some of them I know (because of participating :) )
Would you think that this years festival was different from formers, were
I attended most of the stuff ... and ...
I strongly agree with the missing dramaturgy in oudeis of course,
about the technical points you mentioned (RA etc) I think that those
really need to be discussed more carefully.
and that has to be done in between the whole team!!
between people who know what they want from theater AND what they want
from technology.
I have the feeling that oudeis has not yet eliminated those borders.
There are still some people on the one of both sides only.
I am getting very radical here, I am sorry. So many thougths are in my
head these days that focussing and formulating is getting a tremendous
effort :)
Unfortunately they are going to throw me out of here soon,
so let me end, while I not yet have begun seriously discussing the
issues.
Thank you Jonny for staying with us! We need to keep going now (and
that's what you made us to).
Jim, I know that you already contributed much more than oudeis was able
to take until now.
Let us not forget that our project is now alive! And that's what counts
we only do not have to forget to feed it.
talk to you soon
