Is this what oudeis has come to?

Thank you, Jim, for so ably proving my point that oudeis has entered the
Land of the Lestrygonians. I must say, you have all the charm of an open
chancre sore.

Let's see, what are some of the things Jim has said recently:

He has personally attacked Santiago saying he should learn some manners and
that he needed to "get laid".

He attacked the entire team when he said he could "get more intelligent
conversation about the Odyssey from a handful of redneck loggers than from
the whole of Vienna, Buenos Aires, Los Angeles, Australia."

He has attacked Macintosh and the people who use them.

He has attacked people who simply disagree with him, "I hear Georg not
wanting to do a live performance for Freiburg. Lee sounds much the same. I
agree. I also want the Flash and Bang Team (FBT) to stay out of the way.
Shut up. Go somewhere else."

Apparently, everyone who disagrees with Jim should now stay out of his way
(Mon, is this the collaboration you envisioned?).

And, most importantly, he has ridiculed the goal of oudeis and made it
clear that he is only interested in a MOO or MOO/web performance, "My
proposal is to simplify the whole effort down to the only *proven*
technology we have--Web and MOO."

Now, apart from the fact that this disregards 95 percent of the goals and
aims as stated in the list and on the website, there is very little new and
groundbreaking in what Jim wants to do. They are merely extensions of
concepts that have already been explored. If this is what oudeis is going
to be reduced to, after all of the great ideas and concepts that have been
put forth, then it is truly a shame and oudeis will be relegated to nothing
more than a footnote in some obscure meaningless academic book. I know we
can do better than this whether we will or not remains the question.

Regarding the rest of Jim's mail, it is just more of the same and I am not
going to waste my time commenting on it. It is quite obvious that there is
no such thing as a debate with Jim. He is always right and you are always
wrong. Personal attacks replace reason and self-righteousness rules the
day. If there is to be an honest open debate that is fine with me but I
prefer not to squander my energy by getting into the cesspool with Jim. I
have better things to do with my time.

Leaving the Land of the Lestrygonians and continuing on the Odyssey,
Lee
